Dear Quest School of Wrestling’s Families, Friends and Fans,

I respectfully announce that Mike Heinl and I have mutually decided to dissolve the Akerly Heinl Enterprises, LLC, Quest School of Wrestling (Quest North). Both of us remain committed to youth wrestling and will continue to teach and coach wrestling. I sincerely wish Mike the best of luck.

As most know, I have owned and operated the Quest School of Wrestling for over twelve years. I have been privileged by having the opportunity to train many successful wrestlers; including Youth and Jr/High School, District, Region, State, AAU, and National Champions. But more so, I have been very fortunate over these past twelve years to have and continue to have, such dedicated, loyal, committed and hardworking wrestling families join Quest! Thank you for your business and support!

I will continue to operate the Quest School of Wrestling at 2403 Washington Road, Canonsburg Pa. However, Quest School of Wrestling will be relocating to a brand new gym sometime this year. The new space will be located in Canonsburg! Construction plans are being finalized right now for a 6000 square foot facility which will feature double the mat space, separate parent waiting area, work out space, juice and health snack area, study room with computers, tutoring services will be available, private locker room with showers, plenty of parking and much much more! We have plans for a Grand Opening Celebration details will be forthcoming!

Please know I have many years of experience as a Coach. I have a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and have received Masters Education in Community Health and Education. I was formerly the Head Coach of American University, where I received the Colonial Athletic Association’s Coach of the Year award in 1997. I have been the Assistant Coach for West Virginia University, Edinboro University, Rider University and the University of Virginia. I am a Pennsylvania Jr. Wrestling Hall of Fame member, and one of a few who hold 5 PJW State Titles. I graduated from WVU and during my career with the Mountaineer mat men, I set a school record for most wins, with a 119-36-4 record in the 150 lbs. weight class. I was an NCAA All American in 1987 and a three-time NCAA national qualifier. I was a finalist at the prestigious Midlands Tournament. Additionally, I have coached the Pennsylvania Freestyle and Greco National Teams.

Again, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of you and let you know that I am excited about the new facility, the future of Quest School of Wrestling and the many great training opportunities planned for the 2012-2013 year! As always if you have any questions, please let us know! I welcome you feedback, suggestions and thoughts on improving the Quest School of Wrestling!

Sincerely,

Jim Akerly
Owner and Program Director, Quest School of Wrestling

Don’t Miss Out on this Great Opportunity:

Kerry McCoy, current Head Coach for the Terps will be conducting a clinic for all Quest members at 5:30pm on Sunday July 29th.   This is another exciting opportunity Quest School of Wrestling is offering it’s members this summer.

Kerry McCoy became head coach for the University of Maryland wrestling program on May 12, 2008.

Since then, the former All-American and Olympic wrestler has taken the program to new heights, guiding the Terps to three straight top-20 finishes at the NCAA Championships, two ACC titles and coaching six Terps to All-America status, while twice being named ACC Coach of the Year.

Prior to his position at the University of Maryland, Kerry was  a coach for the 2008 Olympic Men’s Freestyle Wrestling team. He attended all of the training camps and traveled to Beijing, China, where Henry Cejudo won a Gold Medal.

Before coming to Maryland, McCoy spent three seasons as head coach at Stanford, transforming the Cardinal into a national contender after inheriting a team that went 6-8-1 in 2004-05.  Kerry also coached at Leigh and Penn State.

Kerry was a three-time All-American, he was named the Penn State Athlete of the Year and the Nittany Lions’ Wrestler of the Year in 1994 and 1997 while being tabbed the 1997 Hodge Award winner as W.I.N. Magazine’s Wrestler of the Year. He earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1997.

McCoy was also a two-time Olympian for the United States and took fifth place at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and seventh in 2004 in Athens. McCoy also won five straight U.S. National Freestyle Wrestling Championships from 2000 to 2004.

McCoy has been a member of the United States National Team nine times and earned a silver medal in 2003 at the World Championships. In August 2003, McCoy won a gold medal at the Pan-Am Games and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
